Ash Bishop attended college at UCSB, then the National University of Ireland, Galway. Ash is also a graduate of San Diego State University with an MFA in Creative Writing. He’s married to a wonderful wife with two wonderful children. He is represented by Caitlin Blasdell at Liza Dawson Associates.

He spent a good number of years as a high school English teacher, but he’s also done a few less important, though slightly more glamorous, things. He worked in the video game industry for Sammy Studios, in the movie industry for STX Entertainment and A Band Apart Productions, and in educational app development with Tappity App; he even used to fetch coffee for Quentin Tarantino during the production of Jackie Brown.

He currently works in veteran services, assisting transitioning military members find work in the civilian sector.

Ash is a lifetime reader. He especially loves the fantasy, science fiction, and mystery genres, but also dabbles in the classics thanks to all those years teaching F. Scott Fitzgerald and Edith Wharton. He plays at least an hour of Magic the Gathering a day.

His first novel, Intergalactic Exterminators, Inc. won the prestigious Audie award for Best Audio Book of 2023 in the category of science fiction and reached number nineteen on Amazon’s Audiobook sales rankings. His second novel, The Horoscope Writer won the Independent Publisher’s Award (IPPY) for mystery. It was a finalist for the Forward INDIES in mystery. It reached number one on the overall Kindle sales chart and has been purchased for translation by House of Moscow. His third novel, Intergalactic Waste Management, LLC. Is releasing in December 2025 in all formats. His agent is currently shopping his fourth novel, a science-fiction middle grade, The New Terra Explorers.
